The show won her the Tony Award and received great reviews for her role. The following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gain more fame. The actress is also a renowned performer and has published an extended version of her play. In addition, she's an activist and works extensively in the field of LGBT rights.
